Swing! Swing! Swing!
-Jannel Nuñez
Swing dance is a popular type of dancing from the thirties and
forties that is done to the exciting sounds of a big and loud
band. The Swing Club at our very own Dublin High School works
very hard to bring back the excitement of swing dancing. Around
Dublin High School, The Swing Club is known simply as “the
guys who do those dances at rallies.” Though it’s
true that you have probably seen some of their amazing routines
at rallies, how much do you really know about the Swing Club?
“Swing dance is a fun way to meet people,” said senior
Chip Richey, the President of the Swing Club. “It’s
also a cool thing to know how to do, for guys and girls too!”
Aside from the expected dazzling performances at rallies, the
Swing Club has some big plans this year.
“This year I want to take our performances to a new level
and showcase our skills at places outside the high school,”
said Chip “We performed for the city at the Dub-Town Jam.”
If you are interested in joining swing, it’s not too late
to join. Contact Chip Richey for more information at RicheyCharles@dublin.k12.ca.us
or at the weekly swing club meetings.
