Gaels Come Right Out the Gates, But Cant Finish
-Josh Wilson

It was a cold and rainy Friday night, as the Gaels took on the Concord Minutemen in a DFAL match-up. Dublin came out in the first quarter like they were going to have their way with their opponents. On the first drive the Gael’s offense would set the tempo. Senior Jerhi Hendricks would power his way into the end zone off a 13-yard run after moving the ball down the field. Dublin would get the ball back and on the very next drive, RB Chris Hakimi would cap off the drive with a 30-yard touchdown run.

Dublin ’s defense would hold up nice, but would start to play sloppy as conditions worsened. Dublin would end up giving up a 68-yard passing touchdown, which would put Concord down 14-7. The Gaels offense would get stopped on the team’s next possession, and they would have to punt. Concord would take advantage of the opportunity to tie up the game off a 9-yard QB run. That would send the game into half-time with a score of 14-14.

On the very first play of the second half, the Gael’s defense would give up a 54-yard rushing touchdown. “That hurt us, you come out of the locker-room at half all fired up, then give up a huge play like that,” says a fan. Dublin would not score again until the fourth quarter.

On the final drive of the game, the Gaels would move the ball all the way down the field, but they would get held up on the 3-yard line. With it being 4th and goal, and being down by 7, the Gaels had to go for it. Concord would stack the line, and stop the run, which sealed up the game.

Dublin is 3-4 overall and 2-4 in league. This Friday they will be looking to improve their record and get a senior night win against the Miramonte Matadors. It should be a great game. Go out and supports our boys for their final home game of the season.
