Crowns in the Court
-Jennifer Kaehms

The homecoming court was composed on Thursday night, September 27th, during the rally in our high school gym.  The Princes were; Jaylen Paulding of the Freshmen, Cody Hoster of the Sophomores, and Jered Lui of Juniors. The princesses were; Summer Benavidez of the Freshmen, Nicole Skubic of the Sophomores, and Jamie Paterson and Linsdey Plattor of the Juniors. To see the crowning process was just almost as exciting as the nominees felt before they were crowned.

First we began to crown the Freshmen we asked them a couple cute questions and they managed to answer with a couple of cute to answers. Then they uphold the tradition of giving the nominees boxes with a rose. The winning nominee would find a beautiful red rose and then the announcers proceeded to crown them.

Sophomore court was next. The announcers followed the format of interviewing the nominees. One memorable question, “what is your best cheerleading impression?” was asked to Kyle McClain and he replied, “Cheerleading is a sport!” The crowded roared with laughter and then the long golden boxes were handed out.

The Juniors were something different all together. By far this class had the most princesses nominated. Then when three red roses were found instead of two every gasped in surprise: the Junior class had two princesses and one prince! When asked about this surprised twist Jamie Patterson said, “It was different. It was a shock to find that there were two princesses.”

In the end everyone was satisfied with the break in tradition and the night ended with spirits high from all the fun activities and fun new changes.
