Light Up the Night

Last Saturday night the students at Dublin High celebrated the end of homecoming with the homecoming dance in the gym.

The theme of the dance was “Light up the Night.” This year the dance committee pumped up the decorations by spending more money on them to make the gym look even better. They had a bubble machine, balloons, stage lights, light-up boxes to dance on, and two big screens with projectors that featured music videos and video of students at the dance. “We spent a lot more money on the decorations this year and I think they turned out really good,” said Dance Commissioner Sherice Leon .

Students showed up decked out in their formal wear; which was mostly short dresses for girls and nice shirts and ties for guys. “Everyone was looking really sharp,” commented Senior Alex Hennessey.

The dance also had Wild 94.9’s J. Espinosa as a DJ. He kept the music going with lots of current hip hop and rap selections. “The DJ was off the hook,” said Senior Marshall Angel. Although many students liked the DJ, a few had some complaints. “The DJ should have played more of a mix of songs. I didn’t like how he repeated some,” said Junior Karissa Ortiz.

The dance had a good turn out and most students agreed it was a lot of fun and a good way to end the stressful homecoming week. The dance ended with a balloon drop that was the perfect way to end the night. “I liked the dance. It was the best dance I’ve ever been to,” said Chris Watkins.
