Drinks Energize the Crowd

On the night of September 27, the 2nd annual DHS homecoming night rally took place, and it was an amazing night. With DHS spirit in full force. The first skit to take place was of course the freshmen skit whose theme this year was Monster. It started off with the Scooby-Doo team of freshmen searching for a monster, and some other spooky characters. The highlight of their skit was the finale when they all danced to “Thriller” by Michael Jackson. We got to give the freshman props for putting a skit together in such little time. “I really enjoyed being in the skit,” said Matty Banks.
Next were the sophomores who got LOST. Obviously they had the Lost Energy Drink and boy did they take advantage of that name, they borrowed some elements from Alice in Wonderland in which Alice, after drinking the energy drink became lost herself, she had a homecoming game to get to and along the way she met the other classes, none of which were any help. “The sophomore’s storyline was very cute and it made a lot of sense,” said Ashley Block.
The next skit was the juniors whose theme was Full Throttle. They raced against
Alhambra
in their yellow buses, at first the juniors lost but with a little help from Xhibit from Pimp your Ride their ride became the fastest bus in town. With a force so fast it literally destroyed
Alhambra
’s bus. “I just couldn’t believe my eyes when the bus fell apart that got me by surprise” says Senior Nick Morgan. They had a lot of dances and a lot of funny jokes. “I liked the shabooyas,” said Patrick Yee.
Last but definitely not least was the seniors, who dominated the competition. Their theme was the Rockstar energy drink. It started of with DHS varsity team playing some good old fashioned Guitar Hero on the PS2. Then after choosing Rockstar as there drink of choice they were blasted into the world of rock! With the help of Elvis they watched and learned how to have the best show of the night taking notes from great rock bands such as Kiss and The Beatles and Spice Girls. When it was there turn. They rocked hard, when all the seniors started to dance, to no surprise it was to the rap song party like a rock star. Suddenly, as no one expected it, everyone yelled “Psych!” and some great, classic rock started playing, that could be truly appreciated. It was original and different the seniors definitely deserved to win the skit competition. “They definitely earned 1st place,” said a parent in the crowd. Even people who usually don’t have school spirit had to admit they felt something. It was a great night.
