Dublin Attacks Alhambra
-Jeremy Grace
The cross country team had an amazing start to their league season as they beat
Alhambra
, Northgate, and
Mt.
Diablo
. The course was
Newhall
Park
; the team had just run it a few days ago at the first invitational. Although this time around most experienced faster times.
James Attarian and Jeremy Grace came in first and second, before either Northgate or
Alhambra
could get their frontrunners in. In fifth came Phillip Saenz holding off
Alhambra
’s second and third runner with a 16:15. “I got a new PR out of this race, which was way faster than my time on Saturday,” said runner Phillip Saenz, “I’m hoping to keep these kinds off times going.”
Taylor Carsely and Jason Yun finished the pack by coming in at just the right time for
Dublin
to beat Northgate by two points. This gives the Gaels a 3-0 record to start the new season.
The Junior Varsity girls also won their race. Runner Jen Kaehms won the race with a time of 13:05. “I got a really good time; hopefully I can improve by the next race, especially since it’s my birthday.”
The Varsity girls and JV boy’s team couldn’t score for lack of a full team; those that still competed ran a good race. “I think I’m really getting the hang of things,” said first year runner Eric Williams.
This win puts
Dublin
at the top of the list for DFAL, along with Los Lomas. Campolindo, Acalanes, and
College Park
are all about one game behind
Dublin
. Two games behind are Northgate and Miramonte. “If we can keep it up that could mean a team spot at NCS,” said runner Taylor Carsely.
The season continues with Acalanes and
College Park
next week as
Dublin
defends their DFAL spot.
