It’s been a crazy college football season so far. There are now only two undefeated team: Kansas (10-0) and Hawaii (9-0). The top ranked team in the nation, according to the Bowl Championship Series poll, is LSU followed by Oregon and Kansas. The Big 12 conference has three teams in the top five: Kansas, Oklahoma (4), and Missouri (5).
One of the biggest games last weekend was Cal vs. USC. Southern California won this huge rivalry game 24-17. The game, which took place in Berkeley, wasn’t played in the ideal weather. It rained the whole time. Form the very first snap where Chauncey Washington the USC running back got the ball and slipped right away it seemed like it was going to be a low scoring affair. However Washington ran for a career high 220 yard on 29 attempts and had one touchdown. He surpassed his previous career high by 101 yards. USC put together a 96-yard game winning drive with 7:38 left in the game that the Bears couldn’t match in the following minutes.
There were also six upsets in the top 25 on the day including previous number one ranked Ohio State getting beaten by unranked Illinois. The Buckeyes were defeated 28-21 in Columbus, Ohio and dropped from number one to number seven and almost definitely ruining any chance of a national title.
With only two games remaining for LSU against unranked opponents Mississippi and Arkansas it would be a shock if they didn’t finish the season with the top rank.
