in their first round match. We also had Nicole Baptiste paired up with Sami Deering, and Shyesha Simmons was paired up with Hannah Tovstein. Shyesha usually plays singles, but chose to play doubles in hope to get further since the competition for singles was extremely tough. Simmons and Tovstein got paired up against the fourth ranked duo in the league. They lost 10-7, but they put up a great effort and gave the high ranked pair a scare. “I hoped to get further in the tournament, but it was our first time playing together and I think we did great,” said Hannah Tovestein.
The first round was set up different than most tennis matched. They played a 10-game pro set format where the first team to ten won. The remaining rounds were the usual best of three set format. “Our girls did a great job against the tough competition,” said coach Sbranti. The girls will continue working hard in the off-season and by next season they will be better than ever!
